West Vancouver Seniors’ Activity Centre expansions and Squamish Seniors’ Centre were undertaken with extensive community consultation. Dr. Mackin chaired over 100 meetings to obtain the Elders’ ideas. The result is a much-enjoyed community building that enhances the lives and health of Seniors, providing full service dining, activity spaces, social spaces, rooms for athletic training and exercise, physiotherapy, and other amenities.
The design wraps around the memorial garden and utilizes local woods and heacy timber construction, setting a standard for ecologically and culturally wise construction.
