Building of the Year winner The Fifth Avenue in New Westminster was recognized for its unusual flying buttress structure that resists seismic loading, and for the 110 liveable units that celebrate glass as an artform. Translucent and transparent surfaces are treated to protect birdlife and to express the forms within the building.
